Leading Search Engine Provides Easy Access to Archived Video Podcasts
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. And Toronto, Canada – May 30, 2006 – PodZinger (www.podzinger.com), the only podcast search engine that enables full-text search, today announced the company has been selected to power and host the search functionality for the popular video podcast, commandN (www.commandn.tv). Using PodZinger’s video search, visitors are now able to search both commandN’s recent and archived episodes to find topics of interest within specific shows and show segments. PodZinger’s full-text video and audio search capabilities address the growing need for content creators and publishers, such as commandN, to make online content quickly and easily accessible to their viewers.
A weekly online news video production covering trends in technology, commandN’s 15-minute broadcasts include the latest tech news, product reviews, technology tips and demos, staff Web picks, as well as special guests and interviews. The show first made its appearance on the Web in June 2005 and quickly developed a large following thanks to its friendly, straightforward presentation and quirky coverage of notable technology news. CommandN currently ranks among the most popular syndicated video podcasts on the Web, and was featured in WIRED magazine in 2006. Hosted by Amber MacArthur, Jeff MacArthur, and Mike Lazazzera, along with video editor Brian McKechnie, commandN is presented via online video and is widely distributed through RSS.
“CommandN is committed to the production of high-quality, entertaining Web content,” said Amber MacArthur, commandN’s lead host and co-founder. “With the addition of PodZinger video search, our viewers have quick and accurate access to the information within commandN’s ever-growing video archive.”
PodZinger uses speech-to-text technology to create a text index of the audio, which enables users to search for content anywhere within audio and video files and jump directly to the point where their keyword is spoken. By improving the relevance of audio and video search, PodZinger connects users directly with the topics that interest them and helps advertisers better direct their messages to audiences.
“CommandN is passionate about providing an engaging, active, and overall superior online experience for their viewers,” said Alex Laats, president, PodZinger. “PodZinger makes it easy for their viewers to find what they want, when they want it. As the availability of online content explodes, PodZinger’s highly relevant full-text search will be the great enabler to connect users, publishers, and advertisers. We look forward to working with commandN to realize this vision.”
